2005 Girls Trip to Walt Disney World
|
Background:
After our girls trip to Disney last year, I told my Mom there was no way I
could do the trip this year because it would just be way too quick after our
Alaska Cruise and my Hawaiian Cruise. Well last winter Scott did ALOT of
traveling for work. He always flew AirTran and always stayed at Marriott
hotels. So he had earned not only enough frequent flier points for us to use for
our trip in December but there were enough points to transfer to my account to
use for this trip! I managed to get booked but was unable to get booked on the
same flights we had booked for Mom & Adele but no biggie I flew down
before hand and was able to see a friend for dinner and I flew standby home
with them!
Next it was the issue of where to stay. Scott had earned me ALOT of Marriott
Rewards points so we used some of those for our stay Friday night to save the
points. By changing the location of our stay in December from the Boardwalk
Preferred View to Old Key West (we're also waitlisted for Standard View -
Boardwalk) it saved 48 of our Disney Vacation Club points. The balance of
our stay for this trip would cost us 47 points to stay at Beach Club Villas!
What a plan! Next was my park tickets. I had already anticipated buying an
Annual Pass for myself for our December trip so I just upped the purchase
date by 5 weeks! So literally besides the cost of our rental car, the Mickey's
Not So Scary Halloween Party tickets the trip cost me the food I ate!!! I'm not
a big eater and tend to share with others or order from the kids menu so it's
generally pretty cheap! So on to the trip:
Day One - Travel Day
I arrived in Orlando at approximately 8:15 pm. I quickly made my way to the
Hyatt in the Airport where I was meeting Jodi (from our Hawaiian Cruise) at
McCoy's! We had a great time catching up and chatting away until the other
girls made it to Orlando! Mom & Adele arrived at approximately 9:50 pm and
made their way to meet us. They had some beers and dessert for the diabetic
and we chatted some more! Once we were done, we said our goodbye's to Jodi
and off we went to find Hertz Rental Car.
I had Pricelined a rental car and got a Midsize Rental from Hertz for $110 for
4 days! I however just assumed that Hertz was on property of the airport and
I was wrong so out we went to catch the Hertz Shuttle which happened to be
waiting for us! We took the shuttle and went to get our rental. I was
upgraded to a Fullsize and ended up with a Ford Taurus. It was nice and
served the purpose well! We headed to the Super Walmart on 192 to pick up
some necessities and a few things that the crew that were living it up at
Boardwalk's Lounge called to say they needed!
Once we got the stuff for our breakfasts, snacks and the things we were asked
to pick up we headed for the Marriott Village to check into the Fairfield Inn at
Marriott Village. The room was very nice and very roomy and certainly served
the purpose for our one night stay! With a rental car it would be a great option
for someone who didn't want to or couldn't stay on property for some reason!
