2006 Chick-fil-A NCA All-Star National Championship February 10-13, 2006 Dallas, TX

It was a fun dinner but
lots of rest was needed as
we needed to be fresh
and ready for the next
day's performance! The
next day came and the
kids were excited and
nervous. We had a
disastrous warm up so as
per usual Alicia was
nervous as can be! :-)
The kids did not fail us,
they had their best
performance of the entire
season! They actually
made me cry!!! It was an
awesome birthday
present!!!
After we were done for the day at the
Arena we headed back to the hotel to
quickly change and then go practice
for a bit. After practice we went and
freshened up and then myself, my
cousin Deb, her daughter Amber
(who's on my team), my cousin's
Mother In Law Sharon, three of the
parents and three more of the kids
went to a steakhouse for dinner!!!
YUMMMMMMOOOO!!! It was so
good! After dinner we headed back to the hotel where Deb said she wanted
to check the time for the restaurant in the lobby. My feet were killing me so
I decided to stand by the elevators and wait for them to all come back. Next
thing I know, Angie (one of the moms who had come to dinner with us) came
to get me and escorted me through the lobby and in to a room behind the
restaurant where all my kids were hiding and they surprised me with a
birthday cake and happy birthday!!! So, I of course cried!!! It was so
touching and sweet and we stuffed our faces with cake so the kids could go
to bed!!! We had another big day the next day!!!
Sunday brought some more harried nerves. A horrible warm up again and
some mistakes on the floor. But the kids have come so far!! Our team was
also nominated for a Sportsmanship award. There were only 7 teams
nominated for the entire National Competition!!!!! It was a great honor and
I was very proud of the kids!
Monday was a crazy day! We got up super early and headed to the
Convention Center to support the youngest team we brought to Nationals for
their final performance! That accomplished we headed back to the hotel to
pack up and grab some lunch! Some of the girls went ice skating at the hotel
that was attached to ours via skywalk! It was pretty humerous watching
them!!! They had a blast!!!

While the girls skated, the adults chatted. After they were done and ready to
hang up their skates we headed back to the Convention Center to watch the
Open teams compete! WOWOW!!!! I cannot wait to get my DVD so I can
watch them over and over again. Boy were they awesome! After the awards
it was time to head back to the hotel to gather our luggage from Bell Services
and catch our bus to the airport. We checked in and went through security
and shopped and snacked until it was time to board the plane. Once again,
the kids were very well behaved and it was an uneventful flight home!
It was a great weekend, the adults came home exhausted and the girls had
a blast! Until next year!!!
Friday -
We all met at the airport at 0 dark 30 and got through security pretty quickly
and sat and waited to board the plane. Here are some pics I took while we
waited to board the plane!
We had an uneventful flight
and the girls were very well
behaved! We landed in
Dallas on time and gathered
our luggage and made our
way to the bus to take us to
the Adam's Mark! Once at
the hotel we found Terri to
get our room keys and
dropped our stuff off in the
room. We had a few
minutes for the girls to get
changed and then it was off
to the conference center
across the street to practice.
We practiced for about an
hour and then the kids had a
little free time to get ready
for dinner. Terri & Wanda
had set up an awesome
dinner deal. The Spaghetti
Warehouse booked us in
their entire upstairs floor.
For $13 a person you got a
drink, salad, bread and your
choice of lasagna, fettucine
alfredo, manicotti, or
spaghetti with or without
meatballs! Awesome deal
and the kids had a blast!!!
